Purposes
To protect the technical function or features of an invention.
To have exclusive right to use and control the invention.
Requirements
The invention must be novel (new), involve inventive step (non-obvious) and industrially applicable.
Duration of Protections
20 years from the filing date, subject to annual renewal during its enforcement.
Indicator
“Patent Pending” (when it is still in application stage), or “Patented” (registered)
